To celebrate 30 years since the club’s founding DC Front Runners is producing a short film documentary. The film will explore how being gay has changed since the club was established in 1981 and how DC Front Runners has evolved and coped with such challenges as the advent of HIV/AIDS. It will feature interviews with DC Front Runners past and present, as well as photos, archival material such as our first newsletter, and footage of the club’s activities, including runs, parties and races.
The members spearheading this project are Marcel Acosta, Brian Beary (Secretary), Jerry Hadsell, Gabe Hollis, Seth Kalish (Race Director), and Andres Gomez-Pena (Outreach Coordinator).
If you would like to volunteer to help us or have further questions, please contact Andres Gomez-Pena at film@dcfrontrunners.org.
We are presently gathering photographs and historical video footage and are especially interested in material from the 1980s and early 1990s. If you have digital (or scanned) photos or footage you feel might be of interest, you can send them to us electronically by going to http://gallery.me.com/marchgo#100730 and clicking on the link ‘UPLOAD’. You can also contact Andres if you would like to make other arrangements, including scanning prints if your photos are not in a digital format. Please note that we may contact you if we need assistance to properly identify people or events in your uploaded photo.
